For all cover sections excluding section 4, you must be medically fit to travel on the date of departure. However, for cover under section 4, ‘loss of deposit, cancellation and curtailment’ you must be medically fit to travel on the date of booking any trip, paying for the trip in full or paying the initial instalment or deposit towards the final cost of the trip and on the dates you pay any further balance or instalments towards the final cost of the trip.
Being medically fit means any existing medical conditions you have must be stable and controlled by any treatment you are receiving and/or medication you have been prescribed. There must be no known likelihood of any specialist or specific medical tests, investigations or variation of treatment or medication for any existing medical condition(s) on any of the above dates or whilst travelling. You cannot be awaiting surgery for any diagnosed medical condition unless your medical practitioner has confirmed that you are medically fit to travel, and you are not exhibiting symptoms of an existing medical condition which could mean that your trip could be cancelled or cut short. Cover is not suitable if you have been given a terminal prognosis, which is a life expectancy of below one year at the start date of the journey.
